There was a point at Lincoln-Sudbury (Massachusetts) High School when Ravi Simon was terrified of public speaking and thinking he would go to college anywhere except Brandeis University, where his father is a professor. Now a senior in college, Simon is president of the Brandeis Debate Society and recent champion of the 2019 Brad Smith Debate Tournament, organized by the University of Rochester Debate Union.
GETTING TO BRANDEIS
Born in Boston, Simon moved to Sudbury in elementary school. “I had a feeling I would end up at Brandeis,” he said. “I had a rebellious streak and applied to 14 schools far away, including McGill University (in Montreal, Quebec, Canada) and schools in the University of California system. In the end though, Brandeis is the perfect school for me and I love it.”
